Mark grew up in country Queensland on a beef cattle property before moving to Brisbane in 2010 after completing high school and his Business and Engineering qualifications in Toowoomba.

While always being a bit of a finance nerd, he completed his Financial Planning qualifications in 2019 and completed his career change in late 2021. In 2024, Mark and his family relocated to the beautiful Redlands to try to enjoy a more outdoor focused lifestyle with his wife and daughter and started The Bayside Investor to fuel his desire to help others to unlock the power of good money habits so they can gain back control over their time and focus on what’s important.

While Mark would describe himself as a self-confessed recovering tight-arse, he has developed a few more expensive hobbies since moving to the city which has brought him into the practical middle ground between saving everything and spending. He enjoys a great coffee, occasional almond croissant, pale ale (still manages to have friends that drink lager) or glass of red. His ideal holidays include cross crossing Europe via train in the summer, and strapping on a snowboard in winter (Japan is next on the list).

Mark believes that Financial Planning is not a job but a lifestyle. Clients pretty quickly become friends and within this job you get to share the highs (paying off a mortgage, retiring early, helping a child with a house deposit) and endeavour to support clients financially through the lows (serious illness, unexpected passing of family members).

Mark holds a dual degree in Business (Management) and Engineering (Mechanical), a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning and is a Commissioner of Declarations (C.Dec)
